Scottish Apprenticeship Awards 2019

Yann Leray-Nicol

The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards have now been running for a number of years being promoted by Skills Development Scotland; Scotland’s national skills body. It is their job to help create a skilled workforce that’s ready to face the future. This ceremony celebrates the achievements that individuals and companies have gone too in developing Scotland's work force. There are now ten award categories that you can enter into.

BETA in the past has entered apprentices into the "Apprentice Ambassador of the Year award" This award is for former Modern Apprentices who have made exceptional achievements since their completion and who continue to champion apprenticeships. However, to date we have had little success. BETA decided this year rather than entering an apprentice it would put forward one of its instructors/assessors into the category of “Instructor of the year”

BETA can now inform you that it has now been announced that our nomination Mr. Douglas Turnbull has reached the last three finalists.  Mr. Douglas Turnbull is employed by Plexus Corporation Ltd at Kelso and acts as our assessor/instructor for SVQs in Engineering SCQF level 6, Modern Apprenticeships, where he assesses; Business Improvement Techniques pathways at SCQF level 6.

This years award ceremnoy which takes place at the Caird Hall in Dundee on Thursday 7th November 2019 is where to the winners will be announced

BETA wishes Douglas every success and hopes that he is eventual is chosen as the winner. Good luck.
