What is Skills Scotland 2017 ?
This event has now been running for four successful years. Working in partnership with My World of Work (part of Skills Developement Scotland) this one day event is here to inspire mainly young people from 14 to 19 years of age about their future careers and opportunities . The event will give the opppoerrtunitiy for young people to try different activities that give them a taste of the skills and challenges they will meet in a range of careers. Parents, friends, and family are also welcome to learn about what is available out their in the big job market.
The event activities are showcased by employers, colleges, training providers and other organisations. Activities might include wheel change challenges with students studying auto repair, pancake flipping with a hotel and hospitality team, changing a nappy with childcare trainers, building a slate roof with construction lecturers, restyling a hairdo with hairdressing academies, pedalling a dynamo to light a bulb with energy providers, fitness training with personal trainers and lots more.
Unfortunately BETA will not have a stand there this year but will be visiting to learn as much as it can.
